RecyClass Plastics Certification is a European certification system for recycled plastic products that focuses on environmental performance and quality. It was developed by the European Committee for Standardization and promoted by the European Plastics Recycling Association. The purpose is to ensure that recycled plastic products meet environmental requirements and ensure quality and safety. The core standard is EN15343, which specifies quality, marking and traceability requirements. Only products that meet this standard will receive RecyClass certification and be awarded the logo.
The standard requires that the quality and safety of recycled plastic products comply with regulations and standards, and provide detailed product information and environmental statements. With RecyClass certification, recycled plastic products can prove their environmental performance and quality and gain a competitive advantage in the market. This certification improves the visibility and credibility of recycled plastic products, enhances consumer awareness of environmental protection, and promotes the development of environmental protection industry.
European recycled plastics RecyClass certification is divided into 3 categories:
RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification
RecyClass Recycling Process Certification
RecyClass Recyclability Certification
Grade A: The packaging is completely recyclable, there is no problem of recyclability, and can be used to produce the same or similar products as the original product to achieve the original level of recycling.
Grade B: Packaging has some minor recyclability issues that have a slight impact on the quality of recycled plastics, but most of the plastics recovered in this packaging can still be recycled at the original level.
Grade C: Packaging has some recyclability problems, and will affect the quality of recycled plastics or lead to material loss in the recycling process, the former can be used for degradation recycling, the latter may achieve the original level of recycling.
Grade D: The packaging has obvious design problems that seriously affect its recyclability, or lead to a large amount of material loss during the recycling process, and can only be used for de-recycling.
Class E: Packaging has a significant design problem that endangers its recyclability or results in significant material loss during recycling. Such packaging is not recyclable and can only be used for incineration and energy recovery.
Class F: Packaging is not recyclable at all due to fundamental design issues or the lack of specific infrastructure for collection, sorting and recycling in EU28 +2 countries.
Certification object: The finished product packaging on the market can be certified RecyClass through the program; Semi-finished product packaging can be evaluated through the certification program and obtained a letter of Compatibility certificate; Inks, adhesives, packaging labels, etc., can also receive Recyclability Approvals through the program, demonstrating compatibility with existing plastic recycling processes.
Validity: Certification is valid for one year and must be reviewed after expiration.
