Food contact materials and products in the process of contact with food, their components and additives may migrate into the food during use. If these migratory substances contain toxic and harmful components, it will have an impact on human health. Article 52 of the Food Safety Law stipulates that producers of food-related products shall inspect the food, food additives and food-related products they produce in accordance with food safety standards, and may leave the factory or sell them only after passing the inspection.
Tests performed to determine the amount of migration of components of food contact materials and products (FCM) to food or food simulators in contact with them, under specified conditions.
FCM migration test legal requirements:
GB 4806.1-2016 Article 3.1 Food contact materials and products that come into contact with food under the recommended conditions of use shall migrate into food at levels that are not hazardous to human health.
GB 4806.1-2016 Article 4.1 The total migration amount of food contact materials and products, the amount of substances used, the specific migration amount, the specific migration total amount and the residual amount shall comply with the provisions of the corresponding national food safety standards for the total migration limit, the maximum amount of use, the specific migration total amount and the maximum residue amount.
