What emissions are included and excluded in the target validation by the SBTi?

The SBTi requires companies to provide 100% of their greenhouse gas emissions for verification. Companies can exclude 5% of their emissions. The SBTi requires targets to cover 100% of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The SBTi requires the target to cover 67% of mandatory Scope 3 emissions (see page 35 of the GHGP Enterprise Value Chain Scope 3 standard).
