EPD Environmental Product Declaration is a standardised and standardised Type III environmental declaration based on Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA). It is a third-party verified, scientific, comparable and internationally recognised comprehensive information disclosure method for the environmental impact of the whole life cycle of the product.

Why do enterprises do EPD?

1. Improve product competitiveness and brand image:

EPD represents a transparent and comparable environmental information file for the whole life cycle of the product, which has the characteristics of neutrality and reliability. It is used by more and more high-end brands in the industry as an important basis for selecting cooperative suppliers and creating "zero carbon" supply chain management.

Through EPD certification, enterprises can demonstrate their long-term commitment and achievements in sustainable development, so as to improve their performance in the ESG (Environment, Society and Governance) ranking and enhance their brand image and customer recognition.

2. Promote green manufacturing and circular economy:

EPD helps enterprises to save energy and reduce consumption, save production costs, and promote green manufacturing. Enterprises can use EPD data to formulate and track environmental goals, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving resource efficiency or implementing circular economy strategies.

The release of EPD follows the 14025 or 21930 standard (according to different products) issued by the International Organisation for Standardisation ISO and the "EN" specification (15804) issued by Europe. These standards ensure the standardisation and comparability of EPD, which is conducive to the global promotion of green products by enterprises.

3. Break through the barriers of international trade:

In international trade, more and more countries and regions have begun to use EPD as a market access condition and an important reference indicator. For example, the European Union's CBAM mechanism and the new battery law both take EPD as an important reference. Through EPD certification, enterprises can break through these international trade barriers and better participate in international market competition.

4. Improve enterprise environmental decision-making and quantify environmental performance:

EPD provides detailed environmental impact data, which helps enterprises improve environmental decision-making and quantify environmental performance. Enterprises can formulate more scientific and reasonable environmental management strategies based on the data in the EPD report to achieve continuous optimisation of environmental performance.

5. Meet the needs of consumers and buyers:

With the increasing attention of consumers to environmental protection and sustainability, more and more consumers and buyers are beginning to pay attention to the environmental impact of products. Through EPD certification, enterprises can provide transparent environmental information to consumers and buyers to meet their needs and improve the market competitiveness of products.
