The FDA updates the list of certain chemicals currently under IAEA review to provide more information on the FDA's post-market assessment of the presence of chemicals in the food supply.
Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated the list of certain chemicals currently under review by the IAEA to provide more information on the FDA's post-market assessment of the presence of chemicals in the food supply. The agency first published a list in July 2023.
This updated list includes food ingredients (including food and color additives), food contact substances, and contaminants under FDA review. The list now includes information about the status of our post-market assessment, including our ongoing risk assessment and management process. The list also provides links to public information about our post-market actions. The Forestry Development Authority is expected to update the list regularly.
While these post-market evaluations take time, it is the proposed human food program reforms that strengthen our understanding of food and chemical safety. The proposed human food programme will include the Office of Food Chemical Safety, Dietary Supplements and Innovation, where we intend to develop a systematic and more flexible process for assessing chemicals in the food supply.
The FDA's assessment of chemicals in the food supply is part of our commitment to food safety.
