As an important part of sustainable sourcing, brands in major industries around the world are paying more and more attention to supply chain CSR or ESG. Different industries have adopted different standards and methods for the evaluation and audit of suppliers in order to promote the sustainable development of the entire supply chain.
01 Chemical Engineering
The chemical industry, represented by BASF, the world's largest chemical company, mainly uses two criteria for ESG sustainability assessment of suppliers: the first is the TFS-Alliance for Sustainable Chemistry standard, which is conducted on-site by an authorized third-party organization, and the second is the ECOVADIS online assessment. According to BASF's official disclosure data, 58 on-site audits and 287 online assessments of local suppliers were conducted in Greater China in 2022.02 Automotive Industry
At present, the automotive industry conducts sustainable development assessment of the supply chain, which is mainly divided into two standards. One is the unified SAQ online assessment adopted by 10 global auto giants represented by BMW; the other is the ECOVADIS online assessment adopted by many car brands represented by Renault, Peugeot and Faurecia in France.
03 Electronics Industry
Lenovo, for example, in addition to the use of RBA VAP audits for physical factories, ECOVADIS online assessment is also required for secondary 1 and 2 suppliers in the supply chain, including service providers.
04 Beauty & Luxury Brands
Beauty brands include L 'Oreal, Estee Lauder, L 'Occiedane and Sephora, and luxury brands such as LVMH and CHANNEL have strict management requirements for suppliers' CSR, which usually includes two aspects: first, they entrust a third party to conduct on-site CSR audit, such as L 'Oreal and LVMH. CHANNEL, the other is to require suppliers to participate in ECOVADIS online evaluation, and not only limited to physical factories, but also includes all kinds of exhibition, trade, marketing planning and other service providers.
